The Best Restaurants in Salt Lake City

Best Restaurant in Salt Lake City

Utah’s capital city, Salt Lake City, has some vibrant and great restaurants located throughout the city. So when you have a special occasion coming up, a date, or simply just don’t want to cook for yourself, there’s a restaurant for you in the city.

We’ve done our research to bring you the seven best restaurants in Salt Lake City. From Mexican cuisine, brunch, and fried chicken, there’s something for everyone there.

Pretty Bird Hot Chicken

If you’re craving some fantastic fried chicken, Pretty Bird is a must-try. Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, Pretty Bird is a great stop for a quick lunch during the workday or to enjoy with friends on the weekend.

Pretty Bird’s menu focuses solely on fried chicken, and they do it well. If it’s your first time visiting Pretty Bird, you don’t want to leave without trying their fried chicken sandwich. Chefs at Pretty Bird create this sandwich with the crispiest and juiciest chicken and then top it with their cider slaw and their secret pretty bird sauce.

If a fried chicken sandwich isn’t what your taste buds are craving at the moment, their quarter bird is another specialty of theirs. This meal is their crispy fried chicken served with slices of pickles. Feel free to add a side of their special sauce to your order.

You can’t go wrong with a side of crinkle-cut fries with either of these options, but if you want something else, they have a side of Mexican street corn salad.

Chile-Tepin

Mexican food doesn’t need to be enjoyed only on Taco Tuesday. You can enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine every day of the week, and Chile-Tepin encourages it. So when those cravings for tacos or enchiladas hit, Chile-Tepin is one of the best Mexican joints in the city. It was even voted the Best New Mexican Restaurant in 2017.

Chile-Tepin got its name from the chile-tepin pepper. This pepper is the only chile pepper native to the United States, and the pepper is rated an eight or nine out of ten on the heat scale. This restaurant utilizes this pepper in many of its sauces and dishes.

Chefs at Chile-Tepin create their dishes from recipes handed down from their Mexican ancestors. These recipes are authentic and come directly from Mexico.

You can’t go wrong with any of their enchilada recipes or traditional street tacos. Every meal you order comes with chips and salsa on the house to enjoy before and with your meal.

What is Mexican food without a delicious margarita? They have classic margaritas and more modern Mexican cocktails. They also have a selection of domestic and import beers available if you’re not in the mood for a margarita.

Ruby River Steakhouse

For your next date night, Ruby River Steakhouse is a great option to impress your date. They have a large selection of chicken, pork, seafood, and steak options on their menu.

While everything they serve is perfectly cooked, you can’t dine here without trying one of their award-winning steaks. All their steaks here are USDA grain-fed American cuts aged for 21 days before being served.

You have the option to choose from NY Strip, Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Porterhouse, Sirloin, and Ribeyes. They have specialty recipes on their menu for certain cuts of their steak that you’ll want to check out. But not to worry if none of those sound appealing. There’s nothing wrong with ordering a traditional steak to the temperature you want.

When you order one of their signature steak dishes, you get to enjoy two sides as well. Some of the best are their garlic mashed potatoes with white gravy or one of their house soups.

Whether you’re going on a date and want to make a good impression or taking the family out for a Friday night dinner, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at Ruby River.

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

Everyone loves a great slice of pizza, and that’s exactly what you get when you’re at Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana. Settebello was created in 2005 and was one of the first in the country to recreate Pizza Napolenta like it has been created in Napoli for centuries.

Settebello’s is not your traditional pizza joint. They have more than just your classic pizza recipes and slices. While you can’t go wrong with a traditional pepperoni or cheese pie, you’ll want to do it here if you were ever to try something new.

Settebello offers many gluten-free pizzas for their customers who cannot enjoy a traditional pizza crust. This way, everyone feels welcome and like they can enjoy a meal here. Almost every one of their recipes can be crafted with their gluten-free crust.

One of their most popular pizzas here is their Settebello. This pie comes with crushed tomatoes, mushrooms, pine nuts, basil, housemade sausage, and pancetta.

If you’re ready to eat pizza like you’re in Italy, you’ll want to check out their wine selection. They have a variety of red and white wines on their menu to satisfy every customer.

Wasatch Brewery

Wasatch Brewery may not seem like an obvious place to eat, but they have some great food along with their delicious craft beer. You can enjoy one of their delicious, locally crafted beers while you eat your meal.

They have India Pale Ales, Hefeweizens, Tropical India Pale Ales, cream ales, and Porters to pair with any of their appetizers or entrees.

Unlike some other breweries in the area, Wasatch has a large menu so everyone can find something they’d enjoy. They have an extensive menu of bar food and all American meals. Some of their pub favorites include their loaded mac and cheese, pub steak, and main street tacos.

While the bison chili or bison burger is on their menu as one of their “favorites,” many brewery goers think the chili and burger pair well with almost any beer you choose. If you’re unsure what meal to pair with your beer or vice versa, the friendly and knowledgeable staff are sure to have some suggestions.

While a pint of craft beer may be dessert enough for some, if you’re looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, you have to try their root beer float or their polygamy porter chocolate brownie.

Valter’s Osteria

Valter’s Osteria is a stand-out restaurant in the heart of Salt Lake for high-end dining. Valter has recreated some of his mother’s classic recipes to share with all his customers. Along with his traditional Italian dishes, this restaurant comes out with seasonal entrees based on ingredients that are in season.

To start your meal, you can order a Cesar salad for two that is prepared tableside. There are wonderful dishes on their menu, but Valter has his recommendations for his customers. Some of these dishes include his pasta al forna vera, pizza carne, and salisicce e mare.

For those special events where you need to gather a larger group together, Valter’s has a banquet room that you can rent out to enjoy a wonderful meal while enjoying the privacy this room provides. If this is something you’re interested in, be sure to reach out to management early enough so they can accommodate you and your party.

Valter’s also has a full bar and extensive wine list, so you can perfectly pair a cocktail or glass of wine with your meal. This restaurant is the perfect spot in town to dine for a special occasion or if you feel like wining and dining yourself.

The Ramen Bar

For the best ramen in Salt Lake, you need to visit this mom-and-pop shop, The Ramen Bar. The owners of the Ramen Bar opened their doors in 2018 and have quickly risen in the ranks of the Salt Lake restaurant scene.

Before you dig into your hot bowl of ramen, you need to try one of their appetizers. The squid salad is a popular choice, along with their kimchi and breaded calamari.

They have seven delicious ramen recipes on their menu to choose from. You can’t go wrong with trying their traditional spicy pork ramen. This dish comes with a rich pork broth, spicy lean ground pork, ginger, garlic, green onion, secret Asian spices, and an egg.

They also have brothless noodle dishes if you’re not interested in having a traditional ramen dish. You get to choose your noodle, the protein you’d like to have, and then it’s topped with green onion, corn, roasted seaweed, and their housemade miso dressing.

It’s going to be hard to leave room for dessert after your meal, but you’ll want to try. The Raman Bar has a seasonal dessert based on fresh ingredients and a fantastic honey toast that can serve two to four people.

If you’re looking for some truly authentic ramen, you won’t want to be anywhere other than The Ramen Bar.
